Okay guys I dont know how many of you have actully suscribed to my journals here on DA but here it goes.

I have recently made it into school YAY! but there is still a very large hill to climb and that is the finacial one that we all run into when it comes to school. As we all know the econamy sucks big time right now so we are all haveign a hard time right now, but some very smart person a very long time ago (i dont actully know when but just go along with me) created a wonderful thing called a scholarship for people who by bill colectors standards are poor but the goverment dosent deem them that way (i fall in this gloriouse catagory :/) any ways so i have a loan but it isant enough to cover all my schooling. I have found this scholarship where you send in your favorite pic you have taken send it into the website and people vote and the people with the higest votes are entered to win a 1,000 dollar scholarship.

Me being the indisive person i am i cant just pick one of my favorite pictures i have taken because there are so many so i have narrowed it down to my top 3 favorite and i need all you guys to pick the top one. The one with the most votes will be the one i send in. Once all the votes are in i will give all you guys the link to to website so you can go vote and help me to get my chance at the scholarship.

Since i do not have a subscription to DA i can not put up a actual poll so i am going to give each picture a corasponding number so if you could just enter the number that goes along with the picture you like best in a comment to this journal i would muc apprciate it. I really need this money guys so you would be helping me alot by doing this.

Okay so as alot of my friends know i have been thinking about going to photography school for about a year now or so. I had decided to start this fall a few days ago to hopefully help me friend get a leg up in getting down here for school like she wants but he family is being a little bit on the difficult side and really trying to run her life and personaly i just dont think its a good enivorment to begin with but thats not why im writing this. Im writing this because athough it looks like she wont be comeing down here i decided why should i change my mind. the econamy is down jobs are hard to come by and i would have a better chance at getting a job with some type of degree that i would right now. So im sticking to my plan to try and get into school by the fall i have the school that i want to go to all picked out its not really local but its not that bad of a comute either. What i need help with is finding grants or anything like that, that i could try and get to help pay for school the less my parents have to pay the better. So if you know of any good web pages for grants or what every i would appreicat you letting me know.

My Tuition will be $34,650
and my books and supplies will be $5,700

when i graduate i will have an Associate of Science degree in Digital Photography

ARTIST'S CHALLENGE!!

Hello all. I wanted to say that I have seen many artists asking for ideas as to what they should do next or what anyone would like to see. This got me thinking so I have come up with my first official "ARTIST'S CHALLENGE"!

This is what I propose. I have a vision for a piece I'd like to see done, preferably in color...medium doesn't matter, be it colored pencil, oil, chalk, or in digital or digital 3D rendering. Anyone that feels like they're up for the challenge is welcome to give it a shot and enter their version of my vision. I don't expect anyone to put an effort in to this just for the glory, but if that's all you want from it, that's ok too. In return for your efforts, I will award the "winner" any 3 of my images of their choice, free and clear. I will send the original images, with only my logo in an inconspicuous location, in it's original resolution and quality to the artist deemed the "winner", and choice of any two images from my galleries to the "runner-up", same conditions. These winners can do as they like with their winning images from my galleries...print and frame them, use them as wallpaper, whatever they desire. Now some may think that's not much of a prize, but I will say this...I have been a member of DA for only a little more than a week and my images have been faved or added to collections 1,100 times.

I'm not bragging or anything like that...I'm sure most of you have way more than that. Still it's not too bad for just over a week, and the POINT is that obviously there is someone out there that likes my images. If you are an artist and you are one of those that do like my images and feel that the prize I'm offering justifies the effort to enter my little contest, then I encourage you to submit your entry.

As for how the winners will be chosen, I will post the entries in a special gallery just for the contest entries and post an announcement for everyone to please vote. I will only count one vote per deviant so please don't anyone vote multiple times, but if you supply links to the gallery to everyone on your friend's list and they do the same, your chances of winning will, of course, be much better. The winners, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention will be decided by whichever gets the most votes from the DA community. Sound fair? In order to allow any participating artists time to create their entry, I am setting the deadline for entry to midnight, March 31, 2009 pst (pacific standard time).

As of 12:01 a.m. April 1st, 2009 official judging and voting will start. Deviants, please hold your votes until after 12:01 a.m pst to insure that all entries are in. Judging will go for a period of 1 week, midnight, April 7, 2009. At that time, votes will be counted and the winner(s) will be notified the morning of April 8th as well as being posted in my journal with thumbs and links to the winning entries. I would also like, with the winner's permissions, to include thumbs of the images they choose as their prizes. A little self advertisement can't hurt right?

Ok, now for the theme the entries must be based on.

Something I've always wanted to see. Since I love horses and wolves...and I mean the wild wolves...full of bared fangs and snarling and wild eyes, not the cute and cuddly ones....the piece I've always wanted to see someone do is this:

Picture a deep dense pine forest, in the fading light of day...snow is on the ground...deep snow. In a very very small opening in the trees and with their backs to a deep drift that creates a dead end for them with no where to go, is a small band of wild horses.....mares huddled against the drift, frightened while the herd stallion, a magnificent animal full of muscle, strength and rage in his own eyes, stands out in front of them, ready for a battle to the death to protect his herd from the pack of wolves that have cornered them there. The wolves have their heads down low looking for an opening, knowing full well what the stallion's hooves can do if they make a mistake and charge in recklessly. The wolves almost blend in with the lengthening shadows of dusk in the forest, their eyes glowing as if candles were behind each one, circling and feinting, looking for an opening. I see the stallion up on hind legs, forelegs battering the first wolf brave enough to attack, while the rest of the pack inches closer seeing a possible opening.....

Do you see it in your head? I think this would make an absolutely fantastic scene and a powerful piece if it were done well.

Ok, that's the general set up for the scene...but each artist I would expect to use their own style and vision to create this scene in whatever fashion they see it in their heads.

I'd love any feedback on this idea that anyone cares to provide. Based on feedback, this contest may change in design somewhat, i.e. prize structures, added donations, etc. but I will notify everyone of any changes so they can decide if they still want to participate.

I doubt any one will actually read this considering I don't have many people that I know of that actually watch my DA Account. Since I finally finished uploading my pictures from Metro I thought I would write a small journal about it lol.


Friday

My Adventure began on Friday like most Con Adventures do. Woke up packed the last things that I needed ate some breakfast and I was off to Tampa for the long awaited Adventure. Me and my mom decided I would drive over so she would only have to drive back home after dropping me off. For my friends that know me know I just got my permit almost a year ago and due to car trouble lost a lot of driving time. I had driven on the high way once and we just enter Tampa when it decides its going to dump all the water in the sky down on us at one time. So my mom is freaking out which in turn is making me nervous and I'm stuck between two huge trucks. That wasn't fun at all after a few minutes in finally let up and all was good again and made it to the hotel safe and sound. I met up with my friend ShaniaNowhere since us and a bunch of other friends where splitting a few hotel rooms. We quickly embarked to the Publix to stock up all the required junk food to stash in the room for when the Con didn't have anything going on or we got hungry lol. Once that was done be began exploring the layout of this years Metrocon. We found out where her panel was going to be that weekend so we weren't running around last minute trying to find it. So once we found that we decided to go find Scott McNeil She had promised him she would hang out with him some this con. So that didn't take long just look for the cowboy hat. We talked to him and while we where standing outside he was amazed by how much rain came down at one time in Florida. If you are a native to Florida you know this is a normal occurrence. So me and Shania had a small laugh at his reaction it was cute like a kid discovering something for the first time. We didn't hang around at the convention center much on Friday not a whole lot going to so we head back to the hotel to order pizza. This is funny let me ask you this.

How many times do you think you have to call Papa Johns in Tampa to order a pizza?

The Answer is 6. We called 5 different Papa Johns each one saying we don't deliver there but this one dose. So we slowly made our way down the list of the 6 Different Papa Johns in Tampa and the finally one we asked if they delivered to the hotel and he said he didn't know and let him cheek. By this time we where at Wits end about to toss the phone across the room and we got the answer that was music to our ears we had finally gotten the right Papa Johns. We ended up falling asleep around 1ish or so as we stayed up talking a laughing the night away untill we just passed out lol.



Saturday The glories sun greeted us no more rain YAY! We got up got dressed ate and where off. We just mainly muddled around here an there untill around 12 when the flutag and the Convention center was getting very packed and we where getting hungry so we headed back to the hotel for some lunch. We arrived back at the convention center about a hour or so later to find flutag over but all the drunks still lingering in the halls making it very smelly and very packed the con committee actually opened a special room just so con people had a place to sit down. We went to the ranger dinner about 6:45 out reservations where at 7. we where going to walk but ended up getting on a bus because some drunk guys where trying to get people to ride public transportation and considering it was just the 3 guys our group and 2 other woman that they weaseled on they talked the bus driver into taking us to our destination. Dinner went well we all laughed and talked about random things. We headed back around sunset and went to talk to Scott and his girlfriend befor the fire show. The Fire Show was amazing the performers where awesome and very skilled. Not to mention their costumes where equally good. After the Fire show we made our way to the eye shine concert and sat in there for a little bit befor heading back to the hotel about 10:30 11 o clock on our way out I almost twisted my ankle going down the stairs. I still swear to this day that the step disappeared lol. After that on our way walking back I got a really bad case of the giggles. They got so bad I fell to me knees right out side out hotel room trying to control myself. It was crazy and I latterly was laughing at nothing, Shania was probably thinking the spiked my mountain dew at dinner lol. So we made it in finally after my laughing stopped and pretty much passed out soon after.


Sunday was meh we got up ate and headed over the Shania's panel then after the ranger panel which was pretty fun. We parted ways around 2 ish I believe I then met up with my two friends who I was catching a ride back home with. We spent most of the remaining time in the game room. The ride home was almost as interesting as the whole weekend. I was the only girl in the car so I was out numbered 3 to 1. We talked about different things such as politics and stuff like that lol. I know who talks about politics after an amazing con right…. Well I guess we do lol just randomly picked up it wasn't  a boring conversations I enjoyed being able to talk to my two guy pals in person since I rarely get to do this due to the face we live in separate towns and don't get to see each other much.


I believe that sums up my Amazing Con adventure. I know I said short and I guess this isn't really that short. Oh well though, you can see my pictures in my gallery if you wish to see what I captured. It was a very nice breath of fresh air after my very rocky summer so I very much enjoyed it and can't wait to do it all over again.
